We hope you can join us for our August Slingmeets

In the City

Date: Friday 11 August 2017
Time: 10am to 11.30am
Cost: Free

Location: ‘Guest Room’ at The Southern Cross Bar and Restaurant (39 Abel Smith St)
Parking: $3.00 per hour on Abel Smith Street and Cuba Street, there are also some free 60 minute parks at the top of Cuba Street.

In Petone

Date: Monday 14 August 2017
Time: 10am to 11.30am
Cost: Gold coin koha
Location: The Petone Depot – 8 Dooreen Doolan
Parking: There is a small carpark off Britannia street in front of the depot, or there is a bigger carpark (the “Peel St Carpark”) behind the library that can be accessed from both Britannia Street and Richmond Street.
Our meets start at 10am with a brief introduction. We will introduce our Babywearing Wellington team and go through the different styles of carriers with a demonstration.  We will run through some babywearing guidelines/safety tips and then there will be time to get advice, help with fitting a carrier, hire carriers, or catch up with fellow babywearers.
We’re happy to answer any questions you may have about any aspect of babywearing and about any type of baby carrier. If we can’t answer your questions we
can refer you to someone who can. If this is your first meet it’s helpful to make sure you arrive in time for the intro and safety chat.
If you are attending and know a thing or two about babywearing, please don’t be afraid to help someone else out if you feel able. We just ask that you advise within your ability and comfort zone

Baby carrier library

We have a pretty fantastic sling library that Babywearing Wellington members can hire from.  Our library includes stretchy wraps, stretchy carriers, woven wraps, meh dai, onbuhimo’s, soft structured carriers (also known as buckle carriers) and ring sling
s. You can see what we have available in our sling library here:
Now that we have multiples of carriers we are no longer running a reserves list for our city meet, if there is something in particular that you’re really keen to try you’ll need to make sure you’re at our meet for the 10am kick off so you don’t miss out.
We are always interested to know what carriers you would like us to have in our library, so if there’s something we don’t have let us know so that we can work towards adding it!

There is a one-off registration fee of $20 that is required to become a Babywearing Wellington member, it then costs $2.5o per week to hire any carrier in our libr

ary.  All proceeds go towards running and updating the library, as well as keeping our meetings running.  Please note: our usual lending period if you are hiring from the city meet is one month, or a fortnight if you are hiring from the Petone meet.  Our stretchy wraps are available to be hired for a 3 month period for $15.
You do not have to be a Babywearing Wellington member to come along and see different options, try carriers on, get advice, get help with fitting your own carrier, or to hang out.

Bring your friends!

Our meetings are open to the public, so please feel free to invite anyone you think might be interested – friends, family, other mums and dads… you don’t have to hav
e a baby to be a babywearing supporter! Buggies/prams/strollers etc are all very welcome – you don’t have to be babywearing to come along.

More information about Babywearing Wellington can be found on our website and on o

Please note: The Babywearing Wellington Committee is a voluntary group of people passionate about babywearing, but we are not necessarily experts on everything to do with babywearing. At slingmeets we might not be able to get around to everyone, or have the wisdom within our group to assist with your problem. We’ll help where we can and refer you to someone else if needed.
