Time: 10am – 12pm
Location: The Petone Depot – 8 Doolan Mall

Our meets start at 10am with a brief introduction. We will introduce our Babywearing Wellington committee and our team of helpers and briefly go through the different styles of carriers.  We will run through some babywearing guidelines/safety tips and then there will be time to get advice, help with fitting a carrier, hire carriers, or catch up with fellow babywearers. If you have reserved a carrier you will need to pick it up by 11am, otherwise it will be freed up for someone else to hire.
We’re happy to answer any questions you may have about any aspect of babywearing and about any type of baby carrier. If we can’t answer your questions we can refer you to someone who can. If this is your first meet it’s helpful to make sure you arrive in time for the intro and safety chat.
If you are attending and know a thing or two about babywearing, please don’t be afraid to help someone else out if you feel able. We just ask that you advise within your ability and comfort zone🙂
Baby carrier library
We have a pretty fantastic sling library that Babywearing Wellington members can do monthly hires from. There is a one off fee of $10 to become a lifetime member, your first hire is $20 and all subsequent hires are just $10. All proceeds go towards running and updating the library, as well as keeping our meetings running.  You don’t have to be a member or hire a carrier to come along and try carriers on, ask questions or get help with fitting your own carrier. Our library includes stretchy wraps, stretchy carriers, woven wraps, mei tais, onbu’s, SSCs and ring slings.
Due to demand and popularity of some carriers we run a reserves list for the library at the City meets, many of our carriers are now reserved prior to the meet.  If there is something in particular you want to hire please send us an email with ‘carrier reserve’ in the subject and let us know so you are not disappointed on the day.  You can see what we have available in our sling library here: https://babywearingwellington.org.nz/the-bww-carrier-library/
For the Petone meets the hire period will be for 2 weeks only. To become a Babywearing Wellington member there is a one-off $10 fee. Your first hire is $10 and subsequent hires will be $5 for two weeks. We won’t have the full library with us, and we are not going to be operating a reserves list for our Petone meets.
We are always interested to know what carriers you would like us to have in our library, so if there’s something we don’t have let us know so that we can work towards adding it!

Bring your friends!
Our meetings are open to the public, so please feel free to invite anyone you think might be interested – friends, family, other mums and dads… you don’t have to have a baby to be a babywearing supporter! Buggies/prams/strollers etc are all very welcome – you don’t have to be babywearing to come along.

Please note: The Babywearing Wellington Committee is a voluntary group of people passionate about babywearing, but we are not necessarily experts on everything to do with babywearing. At slingmeets we might not be able to get around to everyone, or have the wisdom within our group to assist with your problem. We’ll help where we can and refer you to someone else if needed.
