In New Zealand we have our own celebrations which you can find out about at http://newzealandbabywearingweek.wordpress.com/ or https://www.facebook.com/NewZealandBabywearingWeek
We at Babywearing Wellington have been hard at work organising events for you and here are the details:
Ring Sling DIY Workshop
Sunday 5th October, 10:30am, The Petone Depot
Limited spaces: booking essential
In this workshop you’ll make a basic ring sling under the guidance of our crafty committee members, Evie and Hester.
The cost is $20 per person and for this we will provide materials, equipment and instruction.
This is aimed at those with little sewing experience, though it would be helpful if you have operated a sewing machine before and can sew a straight line.
We can only accommodate a limited number of attendees at this workshop so please get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org to book. We will require payment up front to secure a place. This is not refundable but it is transferable.
Come along and hang out in the sun with some fellow baby wearers. Bring a picnic and your stash for a bit of fun. If we can convince her, Anne might even demonstrate some babywearing yoga moves 😉
This event will be cancelled in case of unsuitable weather.
Register on the day from 9:30am at Frank Kitts. The first 50 families to register on the day will receive a goodie bag with giveaways and vouchers.
We will be walking rain or shine. In the event of heavy rain we will advise an alternative meeting place via Facebook and our blog.
We’d love to see you all there with your child/ren and favourite carriers, and it would be great if you could spread the word around your friends and family. Everyone is welcome – you don’t need to have a ‘worn’ baby to attend, and the route is buggy-friendly. The idea is to get as many supporters of babywearing together as we can!
